THE JEFFERSON BIBLE: ‘Paul was the first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus.’ Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States of America. 1801-1809.
Jefferson created the Jefferson Bible in 1820 by cutting and pasting, with a razor and glue, aspects of the New Testament he resonated with.
The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, excludes all miracles, prophecy, most mentions of the supernatural, angels, the Resurrection, and passages that include references to Jesus’ Divinity.
Instead Jefferson focused on Jesus as a philosopher and great moral teacher. When asked what type of Christian he was, he replied; ‘You say you are a Calvinist. I am not. I am of a sect by myself as far as I know.’
