THE TRANSFIGURATION:

August 2, 2024

Why did the Church choose 6 August as the Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ, one of the twelve Great Feasts of the Christian Calendar of Saints?

Was it just a random choice, or is there a deeper meaning linked to the pagan celebration of Lughnasadh on 1-2 August, that became Lammas/Loaf-Mass in Anglo-Saxon England?

How does it connect to the Dog Days of Sirius and ancient First Fruits festival of the Eleusinian Goddesses, Demeter and Persephone?

Was it because the constellation of Leo covers this time period in tropical astrology? 23 July – 22 August.

And then there is the small detail of the sunset alignment of the Axe Historique in Paris. A solar event that can be witnessed during the final week of the Olympic Games in real time. 6 – 11 August.
