Arthurian legends have changed multiple times over the centuries. From having a cold and distant father, to being abducted and rescued, Guinevere’s character is as complex as that of Sir Lancelot. The early legends speak of her betrayal of King Arthur with Mordred, who is later on replaced by Lancelot. 

Some say Lancelot was her true love and Arthur an arranged marriage devoid of intimacy and affection. She is described as being noble and dignified, yet other tales speak of her treachery and adultery. Her affair with Lancelot directly led to civil war, Arthur’s death, and the collapse of the kingdom, the unintended consequences of their forbidden love.
