STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN: Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel dreamt of a ladder connecting heaven and earth. He called the place, Bethel, the House of El, also known as the House of God, the original sacred site in Israel long before the Temple in Jerusalem was built.
El was the chief deity of the Canaanite people’s, the original inhabitants of the Promised Land. His wife was Asherah and their son, Baal. Judaism rejected the Goddess and her Son, and claimed Yahweh to be the one and only God.
Christianity reverted back to the Holy Trinity of the Canaanite religion. The Holy Spirit fulfills the role of Asherah/Shekinah, and Jesus that of Baal. The dove was a symbol of the goddess before Christians claimed it for themselves.
