Why don’t you just hand America to Trump, Elon, and Putin on a silver platter. Senate Democrats will officially crown a Christian Monarch if they allow the bill to pass. People need you to fight, not fold. Just the mere fact that Trump is being so nice shows how nervous he is about the vote. Call his bluff before it’s too late.

Shutting down the government is the only weapon Senators have. They MUST use it.

– Senate Democrats joined Republicans Friday on a key procedural vote to advance a bill that would ultimately avert a government shutdown at midnight, despite intensifying pressure from across the Democratic Party to block the GOP’s funding measure.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and nine others voted to advance the House-passed spending bill to a final vote, with President Donald Trump himself praising Schumer for the move. 

Ultimately, Schumer was joined in voting to advance the measure by Democratic Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Dick Durbin of Illinois, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Gary Peters of Michigan, Brian Schatz of Hawaii, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Angus King, a Maine independent who caucuses with Democrats. 

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the sole Republican to oppose advancing the measure and he voted against it on final passage. 62-38. 

Outside of Schumer’s leadership team, many Senate Democrats as well as House Democrats are seething at the move, which they see as a capitulation in the party’s first real leverage point in Trump’s second term. CNN
