Kaffir (/ˈkæfər/) is an exonym and an ethnic slur – the use of it in reference to black people being particularly common in South Africa and to some degree Namibia and the former Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). In Arabic, the word kāfir (“unbeliever”) was originally applied to non-Muslims of any ethnic background before becoming predominantly focused on pagan zanj (sub-Saharan African) who were increasingly used as slaves.
It was eventually used, particularly in Afrikaans (Afrikaans: kaffer), for any black person during the Apartheid and Post-Apartheid eras, closely associated with South African racism. While originally not pejorative, it became a pejorative by the mid-20th century and is now considered extremely offensive hate speech. Punishing continuing use of the term was one of the concerns of the Promotion of Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act enacted by the South African parliament in the year 2000 and it is now euphemistically addressed as the K-word in South African English. – Wiki –
As a white Afrikaner, trust me, there is no word more insulting than kfr. It shows a complete and utter disdain for black people, almost dehumanizing them in the process. It contains elements of being uncivilized, backwards, stupid, close to an animalistic state, monkey-like even. On top of that it heavily focuses on the lack of religion, Christianity in particular, deeming any indigenous beliefs as pagan, heretical, and witchcraft, making the slur satanic in nature. If a black person was addressed with the K-word, the appropriate response was, ja baas; yes boss.
DOUBLE MEANING: So for me on a personal level, to see that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has added another tattoo to his provocative collection, put my back up big time – the Arabic word for kafir, unbeliever. Even more so because I know he has been hanging out with Elon Musk who no doubt told him about the Apartheid slur. It is the same as the N-word in America, but worse. Considering at the same time, that Pete is busy removing all African American war heroes from the Pentagon website and Arlington Cemetery, while reinstating the names of Confederate Civil War generals to military bases.
In today’s right wing manosphere of toxic hate, the word kafir/kaffer, will now take on a double meaning. It will express both Islamophobia and racial hatred towards African Americans. For Pete to place the tattoo in Arabic script directly under the Latin Crusader war cry, Deus Vult, God wills it, is extremely troubling. If we add the Jerusalem Cross on his chest, which represents the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem, to the first tattoo he ever received on his forearm, a huge Christian Cross with a sword inside of it, into the mix, it is clear which version of Christianity Pete follows.
DO NOT SUPPOSE THAT I HAVE COME TO BRING PEACE TO THE EARTH. I DID NOT COME TO BRING PEACE, BUT A SWORD. Mathew 10:34.
Once we start dehumanizing people, things can get pretty ugly fairly quickly.
ASSASSINS CREED: – His chest tattoo of a Jerusalem Cross previously sparked controversy after he was nominated for Defense Secretary as Democrats claimed it was a Christian right-wing extremist symbol.
Hegseth said he was denied a chance to serve in a secure detail in his National Guard unit in Washington DC because of that tattoo.
‘I was deemed an extremist because of a tattoo by my National Guard unit in Washington, D.C., and my orders were revoked to guard the Biden inauguration… a Jerusalem cross tattoo which is just a Christian symbol,’ he told podcaster Shawn Ryan in an interview. – Charlie Spiering for DM –
Not to sound overly dramatic, but Pete has suicide bomber mentally. He has become a fanatic, and as highlighted in my previous post on Pete, Christian Isis, he admires the ISIS fighters for their commitment to God.
“With God on his side and the wind at his back, he is a conquering warrior. He is fighting for his God.” “I recognize that fighter, even though I’ve never met him. I am drawn to him because I relate to him.” PH, 2016 memoir, In the Arena.
How is Pete any different from the violent Venezuelan gang members being flown to El Salvador? They are picked up by ICE partially based on their tattoos, which reveal their gang affiliations. No wonder he was flagged as a potential problem during the very tumultuous period between J6 and Biden’s Inauguration.
Would Pete have pulled the trigger if he was presented with the opportunity to take Biden out? I guess we’ll never know as he was banned due to his radical views, which also includes his many patriotic tattoos. The date of the War of Independence, an assault rifle above an American flag, and many others. He is the epitome of – a White Supremacist American Christian Crusader. Pete is not only willing to die for his beliefs, he is willing to kill for them.
“Israel, Christianity, and my faith are things I care deeply about.” PH.
