THE ENDLESS CYCLE OF SUFFERING : Mia Shem was kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival on 7 October by Hamas and became one of the most recognizable victims of the atrocity. She is also one of the lucky few to have been released alive without any major physical trauma. For example, Mia was never sexually assaulted or raped by Hamas. She spoke of being ‘eye raped’, but nothing ever happened. Mia undoubtedly suffers from PTSD, as do people from both sides of this vicious and brutal conflict.
More than 850 Israeli soldiers have already died, a thousand Israeli civilians, and probably more than 50 000 Palestinians. This doesn’t include the deaths of people in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, or Yemen. The Houthis managed to strike very close to the Ben-Gurion international airport outside of Tel Aviv just yesterday. Normally the Iron Dome manages to intercept any missiles, yet not on this occasion. I wonder why? The real reason Trump fired National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was not about Signal Gate, but that he conspired with Israel to attack Iran behind Trump’s back.
NOT SIGNAL GATE: President Donald Trump sacked his national security adviser Mike Waltz because he was plotting with Israel’s leader to attack Iran, it was claimed last night. Waltz, 51, was thought to have been fired because he accidentally added a journalist to a Signal chat about plans to attack Yemen’s Houthi terrorist group, causing global embarrassment for the Trump administration.
But last night the Washington Post reported the real reason for Trump’s ire was that Waltz huddled with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the latter’s White House visit in February and ‘appeared to share the Israeli leader’s conviction that the time was ripe to strike Iran,’ according to a source. Trump was angered that Waltz ‘engaged in intense coordination with Netanyahu about military options against Iran ahead of an Oval Office meeting between the Israeli leader and Trump.’ – DM –
Netanyahu is under immense pressure in Israel and desperately needs Trump and America to attack Iran. A missile strike from Yemen is exactly what is required to get Trump back on course. 47 has many different people whispering in his ear. The Christian Zionist and pro Israel lobby are obviously trying to start a war. People like Tucker Carlson and MTG don’t want war with Iran or anyone else for that matter.
Netanyahu has recently called up tens of thousands of reservists and is planning a major campaign in Gaza. Humanitarian aid and food deliveries have not been allowed to enter since the beginning of March, more than two months ago. We are currently witnessing one of the greatest atrocities being committed in real time. Yet the perverse irony of this entire drama is that Mia Shem wasn’t raped in Gaza, she was drugged and raped in Israel after returning home from Gaza.
MY BIGGEST FEAR: A young Israeli woman who survived Hamas captivity has alleged that she was drugged and raped in her own home by a well-known personal trainer and social media influencer. Mia Shem, 23, who was abducted by terrorists from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, bravely spoke out in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, where she detailed her harrowing ordeal.
The French-Israeli national, who became the face of Hamas’s brutal hostage-taking when she appeared in a chilling ‘proof of life’ video with a bandaged arm, says the attack happened after she returned home from Gaza.
‘This was my biggest fear in life. Before captivity, during captivity and it happened after the captivity, at my home, in the place meant to be safest for me,’ she told the broadcaster. Shem said the incident took place last month and that she has since been left traumatised and struggling to cope. – DM
UNRESTRAINED: Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to expand its military offensive against Hamas which includes the “capture” of Gaza and the holding of its territory, according to an Israeli official. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the cabinet had decided on a “forceful operation” to destroy Hamas and rescue its remaining hostages, and that Gaza’s 2.1 million population “will be moved, to protect it”. He did not say how much territory would be seized by troops, but he stressed that “they will not enter and come out”.
Later, a senior Israeli security official said the plan would not be implemented until after US President Donald Trump’s visit to the region between 13 and 16 May, providing what he called “a window of opportunity” to Hamas to agree a new ceasefire and hostage release deal. Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich meanwhile told a conference in Jerusalem on Monday that Israel was “going to finally occupy the Gaza Strip”, according to Reuters news agency.
Israel occupied Gaza in the 1967 Middle East war along with the West Bank. It unilaterally withdrew troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005, but the UN still regards Gaza as Israeli-occupied territory because it retained control of Gaza’s shared border, airspace and shoreline.
However, critics say military action has failed to secure the return of the 59 remaining hostages – up to 24 of whom are believed to be alive – and have urged the government to strike a deal with Hamas. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which represents hostages’ relatives, said the plan was an admission by the government that it was “choosing territories over the hostages” and that this was “against the will of over 70% of the people” in Israel.
The EU urged Israel to exercise restraint, saying it was concerned an expanded offensive would “result in further casualties and suffering for the Palestinian population”. – BBC – David Gritten Jerusalem.
