“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.”
“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
“Congress is making America bankrupt.” Elon Musk.
On Tuesday, he promised that anyone who votes for the bill will face consequences in the 2026 midterm elections.
‘In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people,’ he said ominously.
Some people have suggested that a photo of Elon Musk taken during the meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office, showed him staring daggers at Ramaphosa. My question at the time was, are you sure he’s not staring at Trump? I guess we have our answer. The richest man in the world versus the most powerful man in the world. It’s going to be epic.
Musk is obviously crazy upset about Trump changing his mind about the NASA nominee Jared Isaacman, and Trump is upset about Musk calling Peter Navarro a moron, shoving Scott Bessent, and a ton of other things. The tension has been building ever since Trump announced the big AI Stargate project with Sam Altman, Elon’s archenemy. Trump announced a $500 billion investment on 21 January, one day after his inauguration.
Elon it seems has finally snapped, the gloves are off and he will now dedicate time and effort to tanking Trump’s signature bill. The same X that was used to help propel MAGA to victory, will now be used to disrupt Trump’s plans. Trump in turn will retaliate by cancelling projects, turning the regulators on him, spreading rumors in the press about Elon’s drug habit, badmouthing him, and so forth.
Both men are petty, vindictive, childish, emotionally immature, and insanely narcissistic. This could get very ugly indeed. They just might end up taking each other out. Unfortunately the people that benefit most from this dynamic is JD Vance and Peter Thiel. Hopefully they will end up being collateral damage as the MAGA civil war tears the movement apart.
Progressives, liberals, Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans need to get their sh*t together so as to take full advantage of this highly fortuitous dynamic. 10 days before Trump’s birthday and big beautiful military parade, and things are messier than ever. A very unhappy birthday to you Taco 8647.
UPDATE – IT’S SPREADING: Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, a key MAGA insider, doubled down late Monday on his criticism of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and the lawmaker’s vocal support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia.
In an interview on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Bannon said Graham was giving Ukrainians “false hope” by meeting with the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and by suggesting the U.S. support Kyiv’s stunning drone attack on Russia’s strategic bombing fleet.
We can’t have Lindsey Graham, and particularly Zelensky, leading us into a third world war with a deep strike into Russia,” Bannon told host Chris Cuomo.
The comments come after the former Trump adviser called for the South Carolina Republican to be jailed for his pro-Ukraine stance. Cuomo repeatedly challenged Bannon to back up that request.
“I don’t understand how you could want to jail a U.S. senator because he’s saying something you don’t like,” the NewsNation host said, adding, “That sounds like the worst of the deep state and lawfare.”
Bannon responded, “No, it’s absolutely — what he’s doing over there right now is stirring it up. He’s giving the Ukrainians false hope.”
Cuomo cut in, “But it’s not illegal.”
The host continued to press Bannon about why he thinks Graham should be detained.
“So maybe he’s wrong, but why do you say throw him in jail?” he said.
“Two things ought to happen: Either cancel his passport and don’t let him back in the country, or put him in jail if he comes back,” Bannon responded, adding, “The attack was audacious.”
“I’m just saying you can’t be throwing people in jail because you don’t like what they say. That’s my only point,” he told Bannon.

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING: Senator Lindsey Graham snapped back at billionaire Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk, after the tech titan shared a post alleging he was responsible for nearly a million dollars in spending on hotel rooms in Ukraine.
Graham, R-S.C., landed in hot water with former top Trump White House ally Elon Musk Tuesday afternoon in a spectacular clash on social media.
While the allegations continued to gain steam on social media Tuesday, Musk’s own Grok AI classified the X boss’s claims as misinformation.
‘There’s no evidence supporting claims of GOP spending on luxury hotels in Ukraine; such narratives may stem from misinformation. The idea that Congress spends 60% of their time on vacation is exaggerated, as they work about 133 days in session, with other time often spent on district duties,’ a Grok reply to a post made by X user Matt Van Swol reads.
CIRCULAR FIRING SQUAD: The civil war brewing inside MAGA continued to unravel on Tuesday as Marjorie Taylor Greene joined others to side with Elon Musk over President Trump’s massive spending bill.
Taylor Greene’s opposition to the ‘big, beautiful bill’ came just hours after the former ‘First Buddy’ raged against the spending package that Trump is pushing GOP leadership to have it on his desk by the fourth of July.
Greene, of Trump’s strongest allies in the Senate(House), admitted to voting for the bill without having read one section that would have led to her reversing that decision.
‘Full transparency, I did not know about this section… that strips states of the right to make laws or regulate AI for 10 years,’ she said.
‘I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there.’
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson insisted the Tesla billionaire was ‘wrong’ about the bill.
However, GOP Congressman member Scott Perry – a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus – also slammed the bill on Tuesday.
‘So @elonmusk is right to call out House Leadership. I wish I had a nickel for every time the @freedomcaucus sounded the alarm and nobody listened, only to find out the hard way we were right all along,’ Perry wrote.
‘We expect MASSIVE improvements from the Senate before it gets back to the House.’
Perry had, in fact, voted for the bill but he appeared to be making the same bet as Greene regarding a revised bill.
Senator Mike Lee of Utah, who has yet to vote on the bill, came out guns blazing against the bill on Tuesday.
He quote-tweeted Musk’s claim that the bill would add $2.5trillion to the deficit, calling it ‘nothing short of stunning.’
‘Congress has hollowed out America’s middle class through reckless deficit spending and the inflation it causes. The Uniparty propels this vicious cycle, and must be stopped in its tracks,’ he wrote.
Shelley Moore Caputo, a West Virginia Republican, said on Monday: ‘We haven’t had a chance to digest how it’s going to impact our hospitals’ and added that there’s a ‘lot of concern.’
Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson and Kentucky libertarian Rand Paul have both said they also won’t support the bill as is. DMAIL.
UPDATE 5/6: President Donald Trump floated that his bromance with Elon Musk was over after the former ‘first buddy’ went on a social media tear over the Republicans’ ‘big beautiful bill.’
On Thursday, Musk highlighted several of the Trump’s vintage tweets demanding that lawmakers not be eligible for reelection if they don’t balance the budget and shaming Republicans for extending the debt ceiling.
Trump was asked about Musk’s recent criticism during his Thursday Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
‘Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will any more, I was surprised,’ Trump told reporters.
‘I’m very disappointed in Elon. I’ve helped Elon a lot,’ Trump added. DM.
PUSHBACK 8/6: Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is another member of Trump’s own party who opposes the substantial additions to the deficit included in the current Republican spending package.
New additions to the the national debt are a non-starter for Paul, who has noted that he does want to see the 2017 tax cuts made permanent. Paul has also described the current $5 trillion in new debt as ‘Biden spending levels.’
‘This will be the largest increase in the debt ceiling ever in our history. We’ve never raised the debt ceiling without meeting the target. You can say it doesn’t directly add to the debt but if you reach the ceiling you’ll meet that. We won’t discuss it for a year or two. I think it is a terrible idea to do this’ Paul told Fox News.
Appearing On CBS’ Face the Nation last weekend, Paul told host Margaret Brennan that the math in Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ ‘doesn’t really add up.’
‘Well, the math doesn’t really add up. One of the things this big and beautiful bill is, is it’s a vehicle for increasing spending for the military and for the border. It’s about $320 billion in new spending,’ Paul said.
In a nod to Musk and his budget slashing efforts across federal agencies, Paul compared the spending package with the funds anticipated to be saved by spending cuts pushed for by the Depart of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
‘That’s more than all the DOGE cuts that we found so far. So, the increase in spending put into this bill exceeds the DOGE cuts. When you look just at the border wall, they have $46.5 billion for the border wall,’ Paul said on Face the Nation. Victoria Churchill for DM.
