I assume that most of you are aware that Israel has been starving Palestinians in Gaza since the beginning of March. No aid, no food, no water, no electricity, no medical supplies.
When things became so intolerable that even the U.K., France and Germany, amongst many others, decided enough was enough, Israel and America created a humanitarian solution, which wasn’t a solution at all. Israel banned the UN from distributing aid, and outsourced this mammoth task to an incompetent company that was clearly out of their depth.
THE TRUTH WILL OUTRAGE YOU: Israeli soldiers have deliberately shot at unarmed Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza after being “ordered” to do so by their commanders, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports. Israel ordered an investigation into possible war crimes over the allegations by some soldiers that it revealed on Friday, Haaretz said.
At least 549 Palestinians have been killed and 4,066 injured while waiting for food aid distributed at sites run by the Israeli-and United States-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the Gaza Government Media Office said on Thursday. The GHF has been a source of widespread criticism since its establishment in May.
According to the Haaretz report, which quoted unnamed Israeli soldiers, troops were told to fire at the crowds of Palestinians and use unnecessary lethal force against people who appeared to pose no threat.
“We fired machineguns from tanks and threw grenades,” one soldier told Haaretz. “There was one incident where a group of civilians was hit while advancing under the cover of fog.”
In another instance, a soldier said that where they were stationed in Gaza, between “one and five people were killed every day”. It’s a killing field,” that soldier said.
“The report’s direct military orders to fire on unarmed civilians who pose no threat, and the use of heavy machine guns, artillery, and shells against peaceful gatherings waiting for food, are further evidence that the Israeli occupation army is pursuing a systematic policy of genocide under the false guise of ‘relief’,” the statement added.
To top it all off, Benjamin Netanyahu will be visiting America next week to crow about his hollow victory over Iran. Trump intervened once more to save Bibi from justice.
A WAR CRIMINAL: “He is a war hero, and a prime minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring great success in getting rid of the dangerous nuclear threat in Iran. Importantly, he is right now in the process of negotiating a deal with Hamas, which will include getting the hostages back.”
“How is it possible that the prime minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a courtroom all day long, over nothing,” he added, downplaying the charges against Netanyahu and calling the corruption trial a “witch hunt.”
“This travesty of ‘justice’ will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations,” Trump charged. “In other words, it is insanity doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu.”
“The United States of America spends billions of dollar(s) a year, far more than on any other nation, protecting and supporting Israel.”
“We are not going to stand for this.”
“This greatly tarnishes our victory. Let Bibi go. He’s got a big job to do.”
Netanyahu thanked Trump, appearing to welcome the intervention in domestic judicial proceedings. “Thank you again, @realDonaldTrump,” Netanyahu posted on X atop a screen capture of Trump’s Truth Social post. “Together, we make will make the Middle East Great Again!”
THE KILLING FIELDS: Israel has agreed to the “necessary conditions” to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, US President Donald Trump has said.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the US would “work with all parties to end the War”. He did not give details on the proposed truce.
“I hope… that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump wrote.
The world watched as the Nazis killed millions, and now they are watching the State of Israel oversee the death of tens of thousands, with hundreds of thousands on the brink of famine and starvation.
It’s not right what’s happening in Gaza, and this outrageous hypocrisy will be spoken of for decades to come. American taxpayers are ultimately responsible for this ongoing atrocity.
UPDATE 3/7: A former security contractor for Gaza’s controversial new Israel- and US-backed aid distribution sites has told the BBC that he witnessed colleagues opening fire several times on hungry Palestinians who had posed no threat, including with machine guns.
On one occasion, he said, a guard had opened fire from a watchtower with a machine gun because a group of women, children and elderly people was moving too slowly away from the site.
The GHF began its operations in Gaza at the end of May, distributing limited aid from several sites in southern and central Gaza. That followed an 11-week total blockade of Gaza by Israel during which no food entered the territory.
The system has been widely criticised for forcing vast numbers of people to walk through active combat zones to a handful of sites. Since the GHF started up, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians trying to retrieve food aid from its sites, the UN and local doctors say. Israel says the new distribution system stops aid going to Hamas.
Continuing his description of the incident at one of the GHF sites – in which he said guards fired on a group of Palestinians – the former contractor said: “As that happened, another contractor on location, standing on the berm overlooking the exit, opened up with 15 to 20 shots of repetitive weapons fire at the crowd.
“A Palestinian man dropped to the ground motionless. And then the other contractor who was standing there was like, ‘damn, I think you got one’. And then they laughed about it.”
AND ON AND ON: At least 69 people have been killed by Israeli fire across Gaza on Thursday, rescuers say, as Israel intensified its bombardment of the Palestinian territory.
One air strike killed 15 people at a school-turned-shelter for displaced families in Gaza City, according to the Hamas-run Civil Defence agency. The Israeli military said it targeted a “key” Hamas operative based there.
The Civil Defence also reported that 38 people were killed while queueing for aid, or on their way to pick it up. The military said such reports of extensive casualties were “lies”. – BBC 4 July
