Today, Wednesday the 7th of May, Catholic Cardinals are meeting in the Sistine Chapel to choose a new Pope. It could take a couple of hours, or the process could drag on for days, nobody really knows. What we do know, is that whomever is chosen will continue to promote and uphold Catholic doctrine across the world. The latest statistics say there are 1.406 billion Catholics, approximately 17.7% of the global population.
The core beliefs of Catholicism are found in the Nicene Creed. The Catholic Church teaches that it is the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ in his Great Commission, that its bishops are the successors of Christ’s apostles, and that the pope is the successor of Saint Peter, upon whom primacy was conferred by Jesus Christ. It maintains that it practises the original Christian faith taught by the apostles, preserving the faith infallibly through scripture and sacred tradition as authentically interpreted through the magisterium or teaching office of the church. – Wiki
Now a great deal of this sacred tradition revolves around the role of women in the church, and sexuality in particular. In all fairness, most denominations spend a great deal of energy and time on these topics. So let’s cover a few basic teachings. Jesus was born from a virgin, Jesus himself remained a virgin his entire life, Catholic priests take a vow of celibacy and don’t engage in sexuality at all. Sex before marriage is a grave sin, as are many other sexually related activities. Masturbation, pornography, any form of birth control, whether it being condoms, coitus interuptus, the pill, the morning after pill, abortion, gay sex, and transgenderism, are all major sins.
Obvious taboos like beastiality, pedophilia and incest are included, which are more universal in nature, than say restrictions against masturbation or homosexual love. Divorce is highly frowned upon and women are expected to play a submissive role in their marriages. The husband is the head of the household, an idea reaffirmed by White House Faith Advisor, Paula White. Eve was created from Adams rib for Adams sake, therefore Eve in a manner of speaking, ‘belongs’ to Adam.
TRAD WIFE BULLSHIT: The smug looking fellow in the images below is Matt Walsh, an Irish American Catholic right-wing podcaster. I’ve honestly never heard of him as I try to steer clear of the toxic manosphere as much as possible. Anyway I first met him on Tucker Carlson’s show as I watched a clip of Matt ranting about why gay people should not be allowed to adopt, calling it an abomination. Even Tucker found his position right of right and expressed as much.
Matt popped up again a few days later as I read an article about the latest MAGA civil war. Only this time it wasn’t between Elon Musk and Peter Navarro, but between a conservative female MAGA influencer, and what is known as, trad wives – traditional wives. Trad wives promote being stay at home moms. Taking care of the kids, cooking, cleaning, baking, basically doing what women were doing in the 1950’s. Of course they are more than welcome to make this choice, yet a female MAGA influencer called them out for giving young girls bad advice.
– The culture clash began as conservative influencer Emily Saves America, real name Emily Wilson, shared a TikTok video calling out ‘young girls on the right promoting trad wife bulls***.’ ‘You’re actually setting yourself up for failure, because it could not be easier, if that’s what you’re gonna pursue, to be trapped by a man, okay?’ she said.
The video sparked fury among some hardline MAGA figures, with podcaster Matt Walsh questioning if she belongs in the conservative movement at all.
‘A huge number of “conservative influencers” are left-wing feminists who despise the very things that conservatism by definition is supposed to be conserving,’ he wrote in a post on X. – DM –
QUESTION THE NARRATIVE: Now we get to the meat. What exactly are these beliefs that should be conserved? Women can’t be priests or take on any leadership roles in the church? Amongst the 120 Cardinals gathering today not even one is a woman. There never has been and never will be a female Pope. I’ve been posting about Mary Magdalene since before Easter to highlight the Incongruence that exists between what the church teaches, and the actual teachings of Christ and the Gospels.
Was Peter the leader of the early church or was it supposed to be Mary Magdalene? This one tiny detail makes a huge difference to the official narrative that I encourage everyone to question. For 2000 years believers have been told half truths and nothing but the truth.
I have nothing against the Catholic Church or any other religion. My problem arises when the wall that separates church and state is being broken down by radical extremists that are hellbent on forcing their beliefs onto others. If they stay in their lane, no worries. But are they? Everything that is happening in America and Israel, and many other countries don’t seem to suggest that they are. They’ve already taken away abortion rights.
THEOCRATIC FASCISTS: The question we have to ask ourselves, how far are they willing to go? They say it’s all about merit, yet women are being removed from governmental positions because they supposedly only achieved equity due to DEI. And what about voting rights, contraception, gay marriage, mixed marriages, and tons of other freedoms under attack from politicians working on behalf of the church. Social media influencers like Matt Walsh and other theocratic fascists are waging a culture war on behalf of God. They believe they are doing good when they are in fact causing immeasurable harm to loads of decent people.
Which brings us back full circle to the next Pope. Will he hurt humanity by thinking he is helping, or will he try to be a little more like Pope Francis and slowly encourage the church to evolve and progress? Even Francis struggled to correct 2000 years of patriarchal tradition that almost led to the destruction of the church. If the Cardinals and Catholics like Matt Walsh insist on going backwards, the church and by extension religion, will become even less relevant in tackling the major crises facing the world today.
In fact religion and dogma is part of the problem, not the solution. Every second fool is fighting a holy war in the name of some or the other man made deity. They don’t know God, they’ve never experienced God. They read and talk about God, but their lack of spirituality stops them from truly connecting to the unfathomable force that binds all of existence together. Many atheists, humanists and agnostics have much greater depth of character than the far righteous religious zealots poisoning the world with their hateful rhetoric and misguided teachings.
