THE JESUS FISH: Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt 4:19. It has been brought to my attention that ‘most’ people are not aware of the connection between Jesus and the Age of Pisces. Apologies for making this assumption.
Each age lasts approximately 2160 years. Before Pisces came Aries and after Pisces comes Aquarius. Jesus was born at the start of the Age of Pisces, and now two thousand years later, we are moving into the Age of Aquarius. Some people have interpreted Mark 14 as a veiled reference to the Age of Aquarius, the water carrier.
12 On the first day of the Festival of the Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” 13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him”.
Taking this verse on its own is not nearly enough evidence to make such a bold claim. We can’t just pick and choose verses that confirm our hypothesis, they need to form part of a much larger body of knowledge that tells a sequential story from Genesis to Revelations.
Regardless of the before and after, the fact that the fish has been a symbol of Christianity for 2000 years is difficult to ignore. Jesus is most often connected to a lamb, the Passover lamb being sacrificed, and as the Lion of Judah. The fish is said to have been a secret symbol of the faith in the early days of the church. In order to avoid the Roman authorities, the fish was used to declare allegiance to Christ.
The symbol of the fish re-emerged during the 1970’s as a bumper sticker used by Christians, almost at the exact same time as the ‘New Age’ movement that focused on the Coming Age of Aquarius. One could even view the current political climate as a battle between the Old Age of Pisces, and the New Age of Aquarius.
The fish symbol is also intimately connected to the Vesica Pisces, Latin for – bladder of a fish. Many, or rather some people, understand that the Vesica is a sacred symbol of the Vulva, representing the Goddess and fertility. A doorway between worlds. The Vesica can also be used to draw an equilateral triangle, symbol of the Holy Trinity.
It was the rediscovery of the equilateral triangle that gave birth to the magnificent Gothic Cathedrals of northern France. The equilateral arch allowed for more height which in turn allowed for more light to enter through multicolored stained glass windows.
The Australian scholar Robert Tulip has done tremendous research on the topic of Jesus as a Precessional metaphor linked to the Age of Pisces. Robert has published a number of studies and I highly recommend his work.
Oannes, an amphibious god from Mesopotamian mythology, had the body of a fish and taught humankind wisdom and writing. He was viewed as a civilizer of men.
