When was Israel truly a great nation? I would say 1994/5, around the time of my 19th birthday, which I celebrated in a backpackers/youth hostel in Tel Aviv. The fall of Apartheid gave a young and impressionable white Afrikaner boy, the opportunity to travel the world and grow into a man. Israel was my initiation into the real world.
In order to escape my impending future of mental slavery, Israel and the Kibbutz system gave me the opportunity to leave South Africa with very little money. My parents and family didn’t know I was leaving until one week before my departure. They had no choice in the matter as I had worked as a waiter and sold all my stuff to afford a ticket. Parents control their children through money.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, my country had experienced the most unimaginable transformation when Nelson Mandela became president in 1994. The freeing of Mandela in 1990 opened the door for Israel and Palestine to make lasting peace. Mandela and de Klerk won the Noble Peace Prize in 1993, followed by Yitzak Rabin and Yasser Arafat in 1994.
Rabin was Israel’s Prime Minister at the time and led them to the gates of the Promised Land/Peace and Security, only to be assassinated by a right-wing Ultra Orthodox Jewish fanatic in 1995. I give you one guess who was the leader of the opposition at the time? Benjamin Netanyahu of the Likud Party. Although there is no proof that Likud was involved in the assassination, they did incite violence against Rabin.
WHO IS THE REAL TRAITOR? Just look at the images below. Likud distributed the photo of Rabin with a gun scope superimposed on his head. Others portrayed him as a Nazi, and even compared Rabin to a Palestinian Arab. This brutal propaganda campaign succeeded when the fanatic pulled the trigger. Peace talks collapsed, and Netanyahu became Israel’s leader in 1996. We’ve had 30 plus years of non stop war between Jews, Muslims, and Christians.
I experienced the horror of terrorism first hand when Rabin was killed, and only months later when a suicide bombing campaign ravaged Israel. I can still remember sitting on my bed in the youth hostel in Tel Aviv when a bomb exploded in the Dizengoff Center, the biggest mall in the city, just down the road from where I was staying. The attack was the fourth suicide bombing in Israel in nine days, it was horrific. March 4, 1996.
To escape the madness my girlfriend and I traveled to Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula. We visited Luxor and Dahab, two places that suffered a shocking massacre of tourists in 1997, and a suicide bombing in 2006. When I traveled overland from South Africa to Ethiopia in 1998, I barely missed the Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. This all happened in the lead up to 9/11 in 2001.
War, death, destruction, terror, and more war. It only got worse after the collapse of the Twin Towers. And just when a glimmer of hope appeared on the horizon, the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, under the watch of Benjamin Netanyahu occurred, and event that has brought us to the precipice of the abyss.
GLOOMINOUS DOOM: So when Donald Trump all of a sudden sends out a tweet calling for regime change in Iran, Make Iran Great Again, maybe it is Israel that needs regime change. Netanyahu is the longest serving Prime Minister in the history of Israel, and look what has happened in the 30 years under his stewardship. He hasn’t been in charge the entire time, but he has been a looming figure of doom throughout.
Israel and America are giving each other high fives and think they are the undisputed kings of the world. Trump and Netanyahu are constantly boasting about how tough they are and look at the damage they’ve inflicted on Iran, Hezbollah, and Gaza. Yet as I have experienced first hand, all this crazy behavior accomplishes is to put a target on the backs of everyone living in the West. To put it even more bluntly, white people are now in the crosshairs because of this megalomania.
Maybe we deserve it, maybe we don’t. If we continue to elect leaders that pretend to stand up for human rights and Western values, yet torture and kill innocent civilians, destroy entire civilizations, maim and wound women and children, then what do we expect? If we now add God and religious fundamentalism into the mix, do you think the atrocities are going to stop, or do you think they are going to exponentially increase?
KILLING IN THE NAME: White Christian Nationalism is the most dangerous terrorist ideology on the planet, even worse than the Sharia Law Muslims. Why, because 99% of Muslim countries don’t have nukes. Only Pakistan does. Democrats kill Muslims for freedom, Republicans kill Muslims for God. Both kill Muslims. I am of the opinion that Democrats need to start reconsidering their modus operandi. Because from where I stand, I see no difference between the two parties concerning foreign policy.
Democrats are all for LGBQT rights, BLM, women’s rights, immigrants rights, and every human right under the sun, yet this does not apply to the women and children in Gaza. Why not? Because they are Muslim? Joe Biden provided Netanyahu with the weapons to destroy Gaza. New reports even suggest that the Biden administration was involved in planning Israel’s attack on Iran. Look it up. They did joint air strike drills a year ago when they war-gamed an offensive strike against Iran’s nuclear program.
Joe was not as bad as Trump, and I’m sure things would’ve been different if Harris won. Obama was very sceptical of Netanyahu, and so was Joe, unfortunately he was also a Christian Zionists. This made it easy to manipulate him, he couldn’t separate his own religious convictions from his role as Commander-in-Chief.
VICTIM BECOMES THE TYRANT: My personal opinion is that the Jewish people deserve a homeland where they can live in peace and quiet. Their history is filled with trauma, suffering and heartache. I just don’t think they have the right to use their past traumas as justification to inflict suffering on others. The world looked so much brighter when I was 19, now 30 years later, and it sure feels that things are worse, not better.
Somehow we managed to f*ck it up. Somehow we allowed a golden opportunity to slip through our fingers. The message Mandela brought the world was embraced, and then discarded. Why? Because treating others with respect, compassion, and kindness, is what fools do, fools like Jesus love one another Christ. Love is viewed as a weakness, not a strength, depth of character is viewed as an obstacle, not a virtue. That’s why Donald Trump is in charge, hate sells red hats. Dominance is the name of the game, just ask Peter Thiel and Alex Karp of Palantir.
The world is more dangerous this morning, not less. America may have destroyed some nuclear facilities, but they didn’t destroy the enriched Uranium. Satellite images have revealed that the Fordow mountain was evacuated days before the strike. So tell me this, is Iran more, or less likely to build a nuclear bomb after what has transpired?
Boots on the ground anyone? Prepare for impact. Something big is coming, I sure hope I’m wrong. Under His Eye for an Eye.
EXHIBIT A: MSNBC host Joe Scarborough defended Donald Trump’s bombing of Iran over the weekend – saying Hillary Clinton and several previous presidents would have all done the same.
The Morning Joe host’s surprising take came as discourse swirled about Trump’s strikes on fortified uranium enrichment facilities in Iran.
Previously, the president promised to wait two weeks before making a decision.
On Monday, Scarborough, 62, argued he had no other choice.
‘I find it hard to believe that Bush 41, Bush 43, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton – you know, go down the list – any president wouldn’t have felt compelled to take that strike,’ the former Florida Republican explained.
He also said Trump was left with ‘no good options’ when it came to a solution.
‘What would Monday look like if he hadn’t have moved?’ he asked panelist David Ignatius, who agreed that any president would have made the same call.
Both said Trump had ‘inherited’ the ‘battle plan’ from presidents cited. Ignatius said all three considered ‘this scenario’ when ‘diplomacy wasn’t working.’ Alex Hammer for DMai
