MARY UNVEILED: The Egyptian Goddess Isis is generally connected to Mother Mary, as statues of Isis nurturing Horus show remarkable similarities between them in religious iconography.
On a deeper and more subtle level, but not subtle at all once the connection is made, Isis and Mary Magdalene are very closely related. But first let’s consider a few remarkable attributes of Isis, Lady of Heaven, Goddess of magic and wisdom. Isis was ‘more clever than a million gods’, she was ‘the beautiful essence of all gods’. In the myths found in Philae, Isis took over the role of the god Ptah as creatrix of the universe ‘through what her heart conceived and her hands created’. She was also closely connected to the more ancient goddesses, Hathor and Sopdet.
It is to the sacred trinity of Sah, Sopdet, and Sopdu we need turn for answers. Sopdet was the personification of the star Sirius, Sah of the constellation Orion, and Sopdu their child, of the planet Venus. They became Osiris, Isis and Horus.
In the myth that explained the death of Osiris, his subsequent resurrection, and eventual departure to the Duat that took place around the summer solstice in June, we discover the answer. The helical rising of Sirius in mid July coincided with the flooding of the Nile and symbolised her tears for Osiris. The Sothic Cycle of 1460 years, the very advanced calculations of the helical rising of Sirius places this date between 17-21/22 July, the Egyptian New Year.
If we now turn to the actual literature things become even more synchronised. Isis and her sister Nepthys mourned for Osiris, and Isis was referred to as the Epitome of Mourning. It was the love and grief expressed by the sisters, along with the recitation of magical spells and the use of healing balm, that ultimately brought him back to life.
In the Funerary Texts, Isis is overcome by sorrow, then sexual desire, and finally anger towards Osiris for having left her. The sisters manage to revive him just long enough for Isis to copulate with Osiris and in turn give birth to Horus.
If we now apply this story to Mary Magdalene and the other women, it is clear to see that: they were mourning at the foot of the cross, the women and Mary in particular prepared his body with healing balm, and even the Passion of Mary describes her sorrow, and desire to hold on to him(copulate). All the legends that speak of a bloodline encapsulates this myth very clearly.
Mary was said to have sailed to France in a boat. Some scholars are of the opinion that she set sail from Alexandria in Egypt. The Navigium Isidis was a ritual dedicated specifically to Isis as lady of the seas, and was called the boat of Isis.
The first Latin ruler of Jerusalem during the Crusades, Godfrey de Bouillion was ‘crowned’ on 22 July, 1099. The Albigensian Crusade and the Massacre at Beziers occurred on 22 July 1209. Up to 7000 townsfolk were herded into the church of Mary Magdalene and slaughtered by the knights at the direction of the Pope and King of France. When asked how the knights would distinguish between Cathar heretics and Catholic Christians, the answer: KILL THEM ALL; GOD WILL KNOW HIS OWN.
The torture and murder of the Knights Templar followed a century later in 1307. Both the Cathars and Templar’s have been mentioned in the legends as being the true guardians of the secrets of Mary Magdalene. How the Templar’s directly connect to the date of 22 July is a story for another day.
One last thing. The Venus Rose pattern created by Venus once every eight years, a giant pentagram, is directly connected to Mary Magdalene. But now the story expands to include Sirius as a major influence on MM. Jesus is also referred to as the Bright Morning Star, linking him to Horus as Sopdu/Venus, child of Osiris/Sah/Orion and Isis/Sopdet/Sirius.
