For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony was celebrated outdoors. To make it even more spectacular, thousands of athletes sailed on boats down the river Seine, reaffirming Paris as the city of Isis Magdalene. The Navigium Isidus was an elaborate procession of priests and devotees dressed up in costumes, carrying sacred emblems of the Goddess. Keep in mind that Paris is about 200 km from the sea.
