PHOSPHORUS. THE LIGHT-BRINGER

PHOSPHORUS – THE LIGHT-BRINGER: One of, if not the holiest of incongruences found in the Bible is portrayed in the featured artwork.

New Testament Revelation 22 v 16

I, Jesus, am the Bright Morning Star.

Old Testament Isaiah 14 v 12-15 King James Good News

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! (King of Babylonia, bright morning star, you have fallen from heaven) how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Lucifer was kicked out of heaven because of his pride, blamed for wanting to shine brighter than God. What makes Venus different from the rest of the planets is the fact that it never crosses over the northern part of the heavens. As a morning star it rises before the sun, and as an evening star after the sun. Venus only spends a short amount of time on either horizon and then disappears again, never crossing from east to west.

The above passage describing the fall of Lucifer was copied from a much earlier myth. Not understanding the Stellar significance of the story, it was taken literally and misinterpreted by Jewish and Christian writers. Venus doesn’t fall as such, it may appear as if it does, but this is actually part of the planets natural movement in the heavens. The myth of Lucifers fall is based on observations of Venus over countless generations.

To complicate matters, Jesus was crucified because of his ‘pride’. He was accused by the Pharisees of claiming to be a (the) son of God. This is the exact same accusation levelled at Lucifer, pride, wanting to shine brighter than God/sun. For the Greeks Venus was Phosphorus, the Shining One and Light-Bringer. BRIGHT MORNING STAR.
