The Egyptian god Thoth is credited with making the calculations for the establishment of the heavens and everything in them. God of the moon and cycles of time, the Ibis headed one was the author of all works of science, religion, philosophy, and magic. The inventor of astronomy, astrology, the science of numbers, mathematics, geometry, architecture, medicine, the alphabet, and writing. 

Although earlier myths attributed all of these qualities to the Goddess Seshat. She was said to have invented hieroglyphics, whereas Thoth taught it. Greek scholars further claimed he was the true author of every work of every branch of knowledge, human and divine.

Totally in tune with the concept of Ma’at, Thoth was responsible for the weighing of the heart. For the soul to gain entry to the afterlife, their heart would need to weigh the same as one feather of Ma’at, Goddess of balance and equilibrium.
