SOL INVICTUS: INVINCIBLE AND UNCONQUERED SUN. The Romans celebrated the birthday of the sun god Sol on 25 December. He was the equivalent of the Greek sun god, Helios.
The mosaic portrayed is a 6th century Byzantine depiction of the Zodiac Wheel found in the Beth Alpha Synagogue in northern Israel. Helios can be seen in the centre driving his chariot with four female beings on the outside representing the seasons.
The patriarch Jacob was father of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Jesus the Son, and his 12 Disciples. King Arthur and the 12 Knights of the Round Table. Iām sure it was just a coincidence that Christians chose 25 December as the birthday of Jesus. Or that Emperor Constantine changed the Sabbath, the day used by Christians for centuries, to the day of the sun, Sunday.
