I’m not Catholic, but my goodness am I relieved Leo XIV is the new Pope. I just watched his inaugural speech and liked what I saw and heard. He spoke about the exploitation of the environment and the poor. He spoke about the need to respect and honor cultural and religious diversity.
War, autocracy, and hate inevitably came up. Pope Leo met with president Zelensky and even offered for the Vatican to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. But most importantly, he spoke about love.
“We are called to offer God’s love to everyone, in order to achieve that unity which does not cancel out differences but values the personal history of each person and the social and religious culture of every people.”
“Brothers and sisters, this is the hour for love! The heart of the Gospel is the love of God that makes us brothers and sisters.”
“Together, as one people, as brothers and sisters, let us walk towards God and love one another.”
Leo is like Pope Francis, only more vigorous and youthful. He is going to be a force of nature. Now the real test starts, translating words into deeds. More than anything, the world needs a Christianity that practices what it preaches. The Church as a whole is being exploited and degraded by fake Christians that are more interested in hate than love.
Everybody knows that Christianity in America has been co-opted into doing the Trump regimes bidding. Not all Christians, but a fairly large number have allowed themselves to be manipulated into thinking and believing that they are doing good, when in fact, they are doing evil. They bring shame on Christ, they don’t honor and respect him. If Jesus was alive today, these same Christians would crucify him and accuse him of being infected with the WOKE MIND VIRUS.
It is time for Christians to take back their church before it’s too late. The National Party did it to the Dutch Reformed Church during Apartheid, and Putin is doing it to the Orthodox Church in Russia. American Christianity is being distorted beyond recognition.
Thoughts and prayers are not enough, it has to be coupled with action.
