A PARTIAL SIGH OF EXISTENTIAL RELIEF:

Please be our TACO President. To tell you the truth, I don’t trust one single word that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth. He specializes in lies and bad faith diplomacy. He tricked the Iranians into thinking that he was open to negotiate, only to betray them by green lighting Israel’s devastating attack. Or did he? That’s the million dollar question. It has been my feeling all along that Trump definitely doesn’t want war, it makes zero financial or political sense.

Did Netanyahu trick Trump and therefore put him in a crazy difficult position? Of course as the ‘most powerful’ person on earth, Trump couldn’t show any weakness and put on a brave face after the fact. Both Putin and Xi have clearly and unequivocally expressed their dissatisfaction regarding Israel’s outrageous behavior.

Is he finally listening, because more than half of his base are also shouting very loudly about what’s about to happen. They definitely don’t want war. There is no turning back once Trump bombs Iran, it will literally be a world changing event, for the worse, not the better. Israel needs to be reigned in as they have become a rogue state that poses an existential threat to the entire world.

A PINCH OF SALT? Temperature lowers and window for diplomacy opens. So, in the space of one short sentence, the temperature over possible US strikes on Iran has seemingly been lowered several degrees.

Very deliberately, Donald Trump’s press secretary told a room full of reporters at the White House that she had a message from the president: “I have a message directly from the president, and I quote: ‘Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks.’”

With everyone speculating that President Trump would come to a decision within a day or two, the window for diplomacy has been opened – not quite thrown open wide, but more than a chink.

There will be many who will be breathing at least a partial sigh of relief at this hiatus – though others will be taking a much more ‘wait and see’ approach.

Experience tells us that this president can upend what we think he thinks in a moment, through a few short words on social media. Gary O’Donoghue for BBC.

If Donald manages to somehow do the right thing, it will be between him and Bush Junior, not only with himself that he’ll be competing for the dubious distinction of being the worst American president ever. Be a TACO and make us proud.
